MISSION STATEMENT
WHO WE ARE: CESLD is an organization of Episcopalians in the St. Lawrence Deanery, in the Diocese of Albany, N.Y., who are loyal to the doctrine, discipline and worship of Christ in the Episcopal Church, USA (ECUSA) and to our Primate, the Presiding Bishop. CESLD was founded in response to the actions of Bishop of Albany and American Anglican Council (AAC) board member Daniel Herzog and Suffragan Bishop David Bena in publicly repudiating and refusing to recognize the General Convention's decision to consecrate the Rev. Gene Robinson, a homosexual, as Bishop of New Hampshire. CESLD members, who hold varying opinions on the issue, nonetheless consider that the decision to consecrate Gene Robinson was made prayerfully, in good faith and according to ECUSA bylaws by the Bishops of the Episcopal Church. CESLD members share a concern regarding the support of the AAC demonstrated by our Bishops and Deanery clergy and its efforts to realign dissenting churches and undermine the unity and structure of ECUSA. We join other groups, such as Albany Via Media, Fort Worth Via Media, Progressive Episcopalians of Pittsburgh and Remain Episcopal (San Joaquin), as Episcopalians striving for a middle way of diversity and tolerance in our own diocese. MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of CESLD is to gain support for the Diocese of Albany to remain in full communion with all churches in the Episcopal Church, U.S.A. and resist efforts for Anglican realignment. CESLD provides a forum for the exchange of information through meetings, a Web site and chat room. FOR MORE INFORMATION, please visit the CESLD Web site at http://www.cesld.org.
